Beginning of Recovery

Kristina has done very well today with the beginning of the recovery process. She was moved to her room at about 3:30 am this morning . . .after she had a CT scan at 2:30 am. The surgeon said the scan looked good and everything looks fine.

She has been suffering with headaches today and they are gradually trying to wean her off the IV pain relievers and having her take them by mouth. She is still on the steroid to keep the brain from swelling. She has been eating well today (with no vomitting . . yeah!) and she was able to take a walk down the hall and look out the windows today. She can actually even go to the bathroom alone without pulling a long cord behind her!

We are hoping to get to go home real soon! They want to make sure that there are no complications and she is feeling better before I take that long ride home with her. She has many, many staples in her head and it is very sore! She will experience some bruising along the left side of her face and eye as well. She cannot really smile today without alot of pulling and pain.

But...overall we are excited that she is doing as well as she is! We do not know the details as of yet about the neuropace . . . we need to get over this step first. "They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength . . " Isaiah 40:31

I am going to add some of the pictures of her from this morning. We talked about whether we wanted to put a picture of how her head looks on here, but she felt it might help everyone prepare for how different she looks. As hard as it is for me to look at the staples and cuts on her head . . . she is still very beautiful to me! I am very proud of her for her courage and strength!

Hello Ladies! Traveling last night and today, I've been listening to my "If My People Pray" cd and have been in constant prayer for you both. Sarah and I kept being drawn back to the song "Go Light Your World" and talking about how much you have done that in VA. Though words cannot express our love and concern for you, our prayers are an endless treasure through which only God can give you comfort, love, and peace during these times. Praise Him for His Son so that we have that wonderful gift of prayer that is the only thing we can offer at times....and yet, it is the ultimate gift we can give to others. Thank you Jesus!! And we thank God for wonderful servants in you both as you carry His light through all your circumstances. We love you and can't wait to see you back home!

Good Morning Ladies...

Krissy... Beautiful does not even describe how you look!!!! You are beyond words "darling"! With that smile & heart you can still out shine the sun. I love you.

Dollie... I know where she gets that beauty from!! You have the strength and power that can ONLY come from God. When you take that and put it with the "biggest mothers heart" I have ever seen..then well.. my friend you get the caring , loving, most awesome person I know on this earth! YOU!! I love you.

I finally got a chance to catch up on the blogs this morning. Krissy, you are beautiful inside and out! It felt totally wrong to head to FBCSL and not see y'all there. They will be so glad to have you back soon. I can't wait to sit down have some coffee and talk with you about all that has gone on the last few days in both our lives. You're all in my heart and mind...

Kristina... niiiiice I like the stitched head... You do like the movie Lilo and Stitch right? ;-) I'm sorry I couldn't stay longer! come home soon so we can go out and play! Oh yeah and don't forget you are definitely number one on my 'movers' list, I marked you down a long time ago and that means you must needs be there!

Take care my friend (and maybe I'll just pinch Jess instead of making you help me move, how's that?)

Hello ladies.... winding down now. It will be great to have you guys back home. We will have to take a trip to go get ice cream. The ultimate sign of an adventure. Not just any ice cream, Sunny Skies... sounds like fun doesn't it? We miss you all badly. Your absence is being felt here daily. Absnece makes the heart grow fonder...
Well anyway, can't wait till you see what we've done to the house... You may like it. Just try to keep an open mind about it. and don't worry. It will be ok.

... “May the LORD watch between you and me when we are absent one from another.
